los palominos
In 1986, under the guidance of their musician father, the Arreola brothers began their music careers. The brothers have always demonstrated an artistically natural and humble way of presenting music. Professionals, insiders, audiences and observers recognize the group’s unique ability to triumphantly entertain thousands of concert enthusiasts and just as easily return to their hometown neighborhood in Uvalde, Texas as strong family men, good citizens and friends.
The group’s first name was LOS TREMENDOS PEQUENOS because they were so young. Later the name was changed to LOS TREMENDOS DE JOHNNY ARREOLA and then LOS PALOMINOS was chosen. In 1989, Armando (Mando) Lichtenberger and Oscar De La Rosa, members of LA MAFIA, supported LOS PALOMINOS by producing a demo. The demo would open many doors of opportunity and jumpstart a new career.
Recognition and support from fans, the press and their peers in the music industry took the brothers to a whole new level of entertainment. LOS PALOMINOS has received many gold and platinum awards and won the coveted Grammy in 1999 and 2000. In July 2006, LOS PALOMINOS released the CD/DVD package titled “Evoluciones” (Evolutions) which includes 13 of their past hits plus two new studio tracks.
“We actually had no intention to record an album like this,” says Johnny Arreola, accordionist and backup vocalist for the band. “...but Univision Records offered us a deal to record this project, and we jumped at the opportunity to re-release some of the songs that we feel are the most popular among our fans,” Arreola added.
